About + FAQ

To me, Preptista is about dressing in clothes that make you feel like the best version of yourself, thinking positively, and going after your dreams. What started as a hobby for me has turned into a full blown passion for writing, sharing, and inspiring others. Writing Preptista has taught me the importance of being authentic and passionate. I hope you enjoy reading my little corner of the internet as much as I've enjoyed creating it.

Here are some of my frequently asked questions:

Why/when did you start your blog?
I started blogging in April of 2013 as a sophomore in high school. At the time, I found myself searching for a creative outlet and something to distract me from stress. I had been thinking about starting a blog for a while and tried it a couple times, but it never seemed to stick. One day when I was at home sick, I decided to bite the bullet and do it again for real... The rest is history. You can read about what "Preptista" means to me here.

What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Nikon D3200 with a 18-55mm lens.

Who takes your pictures?
Photos taken of me are normally taken by my dad, my mom, or a friend, but all other photos are taken by me unless otherwise specified with a "*via" link below.

Where do you go to school/what is your major?
I am currently a junior at the University of Southern California majoring in Business Administration at the Marshall School of Business with a minor in Communication Design at the Rossi School for Art and Design.

What are your favorite stores?
I do a most of my shopping at J.Crew, Madewell, and NordstromTuckernuck is another one of my favorite shops for preppy essentials. I am always surprised by the unique selection of clothes and accessories and can rarely look on their website without adding a million things to my shopping cart.

How do you edit your photos?
I use photoshop to edit and adjust photos for my blog. As for Instagram, my favorite photo editing apps are VSCOcam and Snapseed - I usually use a combination of both when I edit.

I want to start a blog. What blog hosting site should I use?
When I initially started out blogging, I used Wordpress because it was one I had heard of before. After blogging for almost a year, I realized I wasn't getting as much out of blogging with Wordpress as I felt I could on Blogger. In my opinion, Blogger is much more straightforward and a little bit easier to use. I also found that most of the graphic designers I wanted to work with only worked on Blogger, so to me it seemed like a no brainer. If you're just starting out, Blogger is definitely the way to go.

Who designed your logo/header?
My header was designed by Kelly from Kiki & Co.

Will you check out my blog?
If you email me with a direct link to your blog, I'd love to take a look at it! If you want feedback on something in particular on your blog, specify it in the email and I'd be happy to help out!

How can I get more followers for my blog?
There's really straight answer to this besides persistence and patience. Gaining followers takes a lot of work, a consistent effort, and time. Also, always write about things you are interested in and write as often as possible because your passion (or lack thereof) will show through your writing.

Where did you get the (insert article of clothing here) in your outfit post?
I provide links to each item at the bottom of the outfit post. If an item is no longer available, I try my best to find a similar item and link to that one instead.

Do you ever work with companies/brands?
I frequently work with brands who have both contacted me and who I have contacted. I only work with brands that I would support regardless of compensation and always provide an honest opinion. You can read my disclosure policy below and if you are a brand looking to work together, you can email me here.
