Back To School: My Essentials

As I'm getting ready to go back to school, I'm starting to gather all of my necessities together and I feel like I've finally figured out what things I do (the essentials) and do not (the non-essentials) need. While there are many more things I need for a successful and happy school year, these are some of the things that I think are absolutely necessary for productivity, organization, and over-all well being.

Jack Purcell sneakers // Make sure to get a pair of sneakers that are comfortable for you. I personally like Jack Purcell sneakers because they fit my on the wider side feet really well. Supergas are another personal favorite of mine. I'll be sporting my white Jack Purcells and navy Supergas all year long! I know Converse and Keds are popular options as well.
Emi-Jay hair ties // Admit it, we've all had those "I haven't washed my hair in three days" days. It's gross. but if your hair does not get oily very easily like mine, you can push your hair wash day one more day with these adorable hair ties. (If it really gross, throw on a headband too, to distract from your filthy hair #beentheredonethat #dontjudge)
Poppin retractable ballpoint pen // No matter what your favorite pen to write with is, get a fresh pack before starting a new school year. I promise it will make you feel way better and much more refreshed to tackle whatever your teacher throws at you! headphones // I try to always have a set of headphones in my backpack for in case of emergency. You never know when a teacher will give you an assignment to watch a video or you want to listen to some music while you make flashcards during your free period. Ever been in a room trying to work while 10 other students are playing noisy things on their computers? Not. Fun. (They can also function as ear plugs when necessary.)
Kate Spade watch // I make sure to always wear a watch to school just in case I can't read the clock in a classroom and I want to keep track of time during a test. If you don't already have a watch you can wear every day, I highly suggest you get one. (Oh, and make sure it doesn't make any noises or have alarms, unless you want everyone in your class to groan at you when your watch goes off.)
Shu Uemura eyelash curler and Bobbi Brown mascara // I personally don't like going to school looking like I just rolled out of bed, but I also like rolling out of bed, putting on my uniform, and heading out the door (ok, and brushing my teeth, but you get the picture.) My solution to this is my eyelash curler (Shu Uemura is the best and totally worth the $20) and mascara. It can make me look wide awake before I've actually had time to fully wake up and it only takes about a minute to do!
Kate Spade tumbler // Hydrating is super important and I find that I drink more water during school than I do any other time. I've found that when I get bored in class (sorry, but it's true) that I drink water. I'm not exactly sure why this is, but I don't exactly see it as a problem either. Also, I drink water much faster when my cup has a straw like the Kate Spade tumbler!
Kate Spade file folders // I absolutely must have file folders for each class during the school year. I don't like keeping old papers in my binder all year long because it wastes space, but I also don't like getting rid of the papers until the year is over. I use my file folders as an archive of work from each class, just in case I need to refer back to a text or worksheet, and I get rid of them all when they year is over!
